    1. I didn’t know anyone else remembered “I Know What You’re Doin’” !!! Word.

    2. I love that Flight of the Conchords song. Particularly the end, where Jemaine starts on his “peoplepeoplepaperpaper” bit. :)

    3. My husband and I were baffled by “No Life Without Wife”.

    4. I’d never actually heard “Putting on the Ritz” before, but’ve heard it referenced, so decided to investigate. Hugh Laurie! What a surprise. His difficulties with/reactions to the syncopated portion of the song and dialogue with Jeeves about alternatives were quite entertaining.

Big Rock Candy Mountain..if you ever come across a cigarette tree, let me know…i’d like to see it.

The most recent song stuck in my head “Anyone Else But You” by the Moldy Peaches.

    Whoo! Flight of the Conchords!

    Molly Piper says:

I just want to apologize if any of you end up falling victim to some of these mercilessly catchy tunes. One of the songs Abraham didn’t put on here was the song by Cher called Believe. That one was stuck in my head for DAYS about a month ago and he DEFINITELY had it in his, too.

Are you kidding me – the Little House on the Prairie credits! I have been whistling that for weeks!!! Also Jesus Paid It All since it was sang magnificently at Bethlehem a few weeks ago.

My wife gets at me for having songs in my head saying that I must have music going 24-7.

No Life without Wife? Never heard of it and am a bit confused.

Jess and Peter – “No Life without Wife” is from the fabulously fun musical version of “Pride and Prejudice” called “Bride and Prejudice” – with a Bollywood theme. It’s a great movie. And I’m not really into Bollywood or musicals.

I have to agree that the “Brown Paper, White Paper” was really good.

Who or what is “Final Countdown”?

Wooser & Jeeves is always good!

    Very fun post, Aber. Thanks.
(sorry if my attempt at italics didn’t work.)

    Tony says:

thanks Molly… now I have “Believe” stuck in my head. :)

  12. 12

What? You mean, Orison’s after-nap song wasn’t running through your head? That was my all time fav!!!

    Adam says:

Nicely done. The brown paper, white paper was hilarious. The rendition of final countdown was disappointing – I was actually looking forward to rolling down memory lane on my way to a roller skating birthday party – listening to that song. Oh well.

Here’s what I’ve had stuck in my head, strangely, for the last week: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpJy46o_7b0

  14. 14

Here’s the real Final Countdown for Jan and Adam.

But come on, Adam, you gotta admit that cover version is pretty amazing!

  15. 15
    Deron Arnold says:

A fun game would be “What song from Abraham Piper’s 22 songs stuck in your head post most suprises you”

    Definitely El Paso.

I didn’t know anyone else knew that song.

We listen to Marty Robins’ “Number One Cowboy” all the time in the car.

  18. 18
    Tony says:

    Myrddin-

I’ve enjoyed El Paso over the years. Although, I guess I really don’t know why/how I know it.

I’ll play your game, with a change. Substitute “suprises” with “scares”, and my answer is Pocket of a Clown.

    David says:

    I may never forgive you.

  23. 23
    Corrie says:

Oh my gosh – I recognize many of these songs and loved some of them when I was younger. These brought back many memories – This was a hard day – so glad to have something fun to help ease the struggles of the day!

  24. 24
    Steve W says:

    Wow, El Paso.

Marty Robbins’ “Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs” (with El Paso) was the first record album (remember them?) that I ever bought in 1959 when I was 9 years old. I still listen to it, but I recorded it to mp3, and now listen to it on iTunes.

  25. 25
    Myrddin says:

Amazing Steve W, Marty Robins #1 Cowboy was the either first or second album I bought. Around the same age. I think I saw it on a commercial. I just can’t remember whether it was that or a Petra tape.

lead me to your cross by hillsongs united and wedding dress by derek webb have been stuck in my head somewhere lately. And an 80′s taco bell commercial from Young MC… why can I remember that but blank on scripture?

    Adam says:

I’m so late jumping back on here – nice to see the action. And honestly, Abraham – THANK YOU – that’s the final countdown bro. Just for a moment, I was back in 4th grade.

This list made my day, and gave me the courage to share my “Toy Soldiers” confession… if only I had heeded that song’s intent…! :-)

I’m also back on a Keith Green kick lately – wishing some youth kids at my last church hadn’t stolen my entire CD collection…
