Thankful for your pastor? Say so and win him a pair of tickets to DG’s pastors conference.
1. Blog why you appreciate your pastor.
2. Link here.
3. Monday, I’ll randomly select a post and give 2 conference registrations to that pastor.
Update: The winner will be selected from those who post their gratitude on their own blog. I’m sorry if that was unclear.

I appreciate my pastor because 1.) his love for God, 2.) his love for his flock 3.) his love for me..(I’m his wife) :0)
I do not have a pastor right now….the state of the church in this city is in desperate need of prayer.
However, through these tough years, my pastor has been my dad (who works for a homeless shelter in the city). I appreciate his ministry because he is not afraid to do and say tough things to uphold the honor of Christ’s name. He taught us to be bold and uncompromising by his example of perseverance even in persecution.
I love my pastor because:
1. He loves Jesus.
2. He was called to our church after 3 years without a senior pastor.
3. He has a passion for loving our fallen world.
He puts up with me, and though I think he’s wrong on some stuff He loves God’s word and just wants to be obedient to it.
Umm… I think my pastor’s covered on tickets;)
I am thankful for my pastor because he devotes his time to praying and preaching the gospel to sinners. He also takes time out of his day to help other men on their path to becoming men who teach and preach the word of God with passion and accuracy.
Those are just some of the many reasons why I love and am thankful for my pastor
I am thankful for my pastor because he is a true shepherd. He guides us by walking with us, not by shouting the occasional direction from afar.
I appreciate all our pastors because- 1)they desire to make Chist greater and themselves lesser. 2)they love each other and joke around together. 3)they are not afraid to offend someone if it is done with love and truth. 4)they have helped make our church community a community of grace and acceptance 5) they don’t micromanage 6)they share a vision for spreading God’s fame in places where people have little access to the gospel. 7) they’re all unique, creative, and intelligent. their preaching always goes beyond the basics and really makes me think, draws me closer to Christ, and helps me stand in awe of Him. 8)they are committed to the purity of the body of Christ. that’s just off the top of my head. if I had more time, I’m sure I could come up with many more reasons to be thankful for them.

I love my pastor because of his character as a humble man who loves the Lord and his Word, which means that his preaching leads to distractingly good meditation:

He is very, very gentle in the midst of difficult times for our denomination but has not given up his committment to the truth.
Thankful.
Per instructions, I blogged it and linked it, above.
I thought we were supposed to link our post here, so that’s what I’m doing. Oops, if I’m wrong.

I love Christ in my pastor because he has been called to shepherd us, the stubborn sheep.
Here’s my blog post about my pastor:

I love my pastor…because he is my husband!!! :) And I am thankful for him because he loves the Word of God. His enthusiasm about his messages each week is contagious! He longs to teach God’s Word so that others will know Jesus more to glorify Him and be changed by Him. My grandpa just recently died and as walked around the cemetery he told me on his grave stone he wanted “He Made Much of Christ”.
I appreciate my pastor for his humility and his constant pursuit of growth. He is an able leader and a careful preacher. He has made the health of the body his life’s work. He loves the Lord. He loves the flock.
Porque es un verdadero pastor.
(because he is a true pastor)
I can use the word “we” here to represent both me and my husband. We have known Reggie for several years now and his devotion to God and the Word and then to people is truly amazing. The past year, he has been through so much with the church, people leaving because of Biblical doctorine (and what timing the conference of “Perseverance of the Saints” was for he and his wife Teana), but remaining true to God’s word, and loving hard difficult people…is such a testimony. This year, my husband and I were to meet up with them (Reggie & Teana) at DG conference. We were driving to MN…we really enjoy it, really. Our 1st stop was Princeton, WV, my Mom’s house, where my Grandmother is & was very ill, I took one look at my Grandmother & knew I was not going anywhere. I knew she was dying…soon. Last time I saw her was 2 weeks prior, she was still walking and talking. I had to cancel the trip to DG. I called DG ministries, wanted our 2 tickets donated to people that wanted to come that could not afford it, cancelled our hotel. My heart was totally with my Grandma. Reggie & Teana knew how close I am with my Grandma. Now, understand they were planning to fly to Va. Beach to pick up their Daughter & Grandson—to help her, but Reggie & Teana offered to come to us in WV. They didn’t HAVE to do that…it was out of the way for them, and certainly would interfere with their schedule of things…but that’s Reggie & Teana. This would be several hours trip for them—out of the way. I was overwhelmed. I KNOW that this is what the body is for, but truly never experienced this until they have been a part of our lives. This is why I would like Reggie to have these tickets. I imagine he would bring someone with him as an outreach as well. Could be his own son. During the conference they were constantly texting/emailing us wanting updates…reading our blogs…and calling. They are truly wonderful people.
My pastor:
I dedicated to rightly dividing the word and using expositional preaching to reveal the will of God. This is important for point 2 but I appreciate the non-topical or lectionary preaching – that he comes up with his own sermon topics, by the grace of God and is given wisdom to show the necessity of Christ and the necessity of justification and being obedient.
That he leaves the conversion to the Spirit alone, through Christ alone.
He has an earnest desire for missions and that God be glorified in his church and in the church and in the nations.
Oh man. I am not a pastor but I am going to the conference.
But I do appreciate my pastor so it will be easy to write up something about him.
If there are multiple members from a church who participate in this deal, does that increase the chance that their pastor will be randomly selected?

There is so much to be thankful for my pastor, Justin Childers of Christ Baptist Church of Wilson.
Yes, I have written a blog about him. Here is the link to my blog. http://boldlion.blogspot.com/2008/11/justin-childers-my-wonderful-pastor.html

Well, my pastor is my husband, so can I still enter him? He is a church planter, and I am so appreciative, because God has given him a great partner in ministry, a good friend, Matthew. This guy is great, because, unlike most church planters, he enables me to just be Adam’s wife instead of his church planting partner. What a blessing to my marriage and our church!! These two guys work so well together, despite very different personalities, and our church is all the better for it. They would LOVE to go to the conference.

I appreciate my pastor because my Lord holds him in His hand, He keeps a watchful eye on my pastor and our church. I also appreciate my pastor because he speaks the truth, and he learns from the words he preaches. He is devoted to handling the word of God correctly, and it is evident in each sermon as he is not afraid to preach the truth of God’s word. He speaks boldly.
I also appreciate Pastor Pletcher for his devotion to the ministry, and his clear teaching of the Word of God.
I am truly blessed to have such as wonderful group of pastor’s available to me. I believe it is a gift of God to be blessed with their preaching and teaching.
Rev 1: 12-20
12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands;
13 and in the middle of the lampstands I saw one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash.
14His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire.
15 His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters.
16 In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength.
17 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man And He placed His right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last,
18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.
19 “Therefore write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after these things.
20 “As for the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

my reasons are very simple, He preaches the gospel clearly, and consistently.
I know it is something simple but I spent the hole previous in grad school were there wasn’t a church in the hole city were you could find preaching like that.
Abraham,
I concur with Frank, this is a great post. What a way to double honor so many pastors at one time and to have us think of the why we are thankful and helping us fulfill the commandment of 1 Timothy 5:17.
Absolutely Brilliant.
David

I’m thankful for our pastors for their faithful preaching from the Word of God. God has used their preaching, teaching, and counseling to draw our church family closer to God, and they have challenged us to bring our lives into line with God’s will as revealed in His Word.
It looks like my entry here won’t count as a post to my blog, but since I don’t have a blog of my own, I guess this is my best chance to honor my pastors publicly.
Thanks for the opportunity, even if it doesn’t give them the chance I initially hoped for.
Someone may have noticed this and commented about it already, but I thought it was funny that your Update even had 22 words (if you include the word “Update”).

I appreciate my Pastor because he is reformed and preaches the full word of God. A humble spirit and a great love for his Church and love for the word of God and the Trinity.
Thanks, God, for Phil.
Don’t put my (pastor’s) name in the running but I just wanted to say my FAVORITE pastor is my DAD. He is retired now and is a real pastor to the people. He isn’t fancy, but he is the guy people call when their spouse has a stroke at 1 a.m. (and he goes) and their grandson is born a month early (and he goes) and people from his congregations past still keep in touch and stop by my parents’ house not because he’s any kind of guru but because he just really LOVES PEOPLE and a person can’t help but feel good when hanging out with my dad. And he happens to be a pastor and I think a lot of people get a real hoot out of that.
(Thanks for letting me say that, Abraham.)
I am grateful to my pastors for their continually pressure for holiness in my live, and their faithfulness on the teaching of the Word of God.

I appreciate my pastor because he has dedicated 25 years to building a megachurch in the Arabian Gulf; because he has released leaders from every area of life to lead in the church as it ministers to over 4k people each week despite the background of the religious context; and because he took a chance on me after my family and I were beaten up by a church in a neighboring county. Today I am blogging about why I appreciate my pastor in response to Abraham Piper’s offer to enter our pastors into a drawing for a free registration to the Desiring God Pastor’s conference! Good luck Mark!
Why I Appreciate my Pastor
I appreciate Pastor Mark Mullery of Sovereign Grace Church in Fairfax for several reasons:
1. First and foremost I appreciate him because of his dedication in keeping the cross central to all his preaching. He always brings everything back around to the gospel and how to apply it practically in our lives.
2. I appreciate Mark’s exegetical preaching.
3. Mark’s incredible humility is evidence of God’s grace at work in his life and the life of our church. When my husband and I visited this church almost 5 years ago we were won over by the humility of not only Mark but the rest of the pastors as well. Mark models humility and it trickles down to the rest of the staff and into the body of believers that go there. When we first began to attend this church we were taken aback by the kindness of the people who went there. At first we attributed it to the fact that we were new. Then, I uncharitably assumed it wasn’t real. As time wore on I realized that this kindness was indeed real, it was evidence of God’s grace at work in this church and that it was modeled and taught from Mark and through the rest of the pastoral team.
4. When I tell Mark I feel so blessed to be part of this church he says, “Me too!”
5. He regularly and humbly honors members of the pastoral team and members of the church giving glory to God for their service.
6. I appreciate how Mark loves great books of sound doctrine, not for the sake of reading or just to accumulate knowledge but for the purpose of directing our gaze to Jesus and the cross and to Scripture
7. I appreciate Mark’s genuine emotion when he is overtaken by the love of Jesus Christ through the gospel.
8. I appreciate his humble leadership
9. I appreciate that Mark has his fellow pastors preach often.
10. I appreciate all my pastors!! Each brings to the table his own unique gifts.

I love my pastor because of His carefulness in heralding God’s Word and his diligence and love for God’s people. His name is David Schindel. :)
I’m thankful for my pastor/husband, because he loves Jesus with a passion, studies diligently to prepare and preach the word of God, loves me and our children faithfully, continues to grow and change even though he’s sixty-one, possesses a big-picture view of what God is doing in the world, releasing our daughter to go to India for two months this past summer, humbly confesses his sin, serves his family and flock in unseen ways, and worships privately and publicly with unashamed joy. Thanks for the opportunity to say so.-
My pastor is my husband.
He loves Jesus and God’s Word.
He loves his family.
He loves God’s people–
And tirelessly preaches to them
2 times each Sunday morning
as well as countless times
during the week.
He Has A Servant’s Heart,
especially as he cares
for our injured son.
