Orison has been writing songs lately in which the title is all the lyrics.

Here’s what’s topping the charts at our house:

I’m wondering if this is a four year old thing. Our son just turned 4 last week and has been composing songs for a couple months. He busted out with a pretty good one using some of the words in Sally Lloyd-Jones’ account of Moses and Pharaoh. He covered at least 3 or 4 plagues. It was the first truly coherent one though! :)

I always love the videos of Orison. Thanks for posting them!

Looks like the audience in the background is getting a little out of hand.

just when I thought that song was out of my head…i couldn’t help but to watch. Orison is my favorite rockstar.

    David says:

The lyrics are a stunningly mature combination of Colossians 3 imagery and modern cognitive dissonance theory.

    Frank Turk says:

Cardigan Sweater — lovingly knitted by Mom, but … but … but …

augh. I can’t say it out loud. he’s too precious. May he always have the heart he has now and do what is in it.

Flashback 11 years. My daughter at age five….

    Heart love, Heart love,
why don’t you love me with a heart love?

    :( Sniff

  10. 10

Yes, Frank. Jeremiah 17:9 and all that.

I want this song to be true only at certain times. Other times, not so much.

    Chelsea Bass says:

Ah, sweet Orison. I wonder what’s in his heart. I don’t think I want to do what’s in the heart most of the time.

    Jake says:

I guess it depends on what we mean by heart– like the “indwelt-by-the-HS-and-therefore-delighting-in-the-law-of-God heart” or the “desperately-wicked, set-against-the-desires-of-the-Spirit heart.”

    Isn’t that always the rub?

Ruth may be his biggest fan. She’s singing it now… and wants to hear it over and over and over and over……..

Make sure you copyright that song…CCM will be all over it. ;-)

    Frank Turk says:

That’s not what I meant at all, Abraham. Not at all — Iove the videos of your son and am not looking for a deeper theological crag into which I can insert the crow bar. I am a fan of the Orison videos.

I wish there was a park where your son could play with my son because, in spite of their age difference, they are a lot alike. Including wearing clothes picked out by Mom.

    Andrew says:

Awesome. Simply great. Love the instrumental background, too!

    Sorry for the misunderstanding, Frank.

That verse came to my mind as what you meant because I was thinking about it when I posted this. So naturally, I assumed other people would think of it, too.

    Not a very smart assumption.

Orison is amazing. I’d love to meet this child someday.

Even though “the title is all the lyrics” it may still have more lyrical depth than some popular choruses.

LOL…A rising star you got there!

    Shannon Archer says:

Unless, of course, he gets it in his heart to throw you in the garbage again…

    Jonathan P says:

I’ve been waiting for this release… I’ve got the Thanksgiving Remix of this tune on video… I should run it by his agent.

  24. 24
    Jonathan P says:

and that is remix with no music, just straight-freestyle-dropping-it-like-it’s-hot

Actually, Orison would be a great name for a band. With Orison Piper as front man, of course.

    Deron Arnold says:

My 3 1/2 year old boys sure got a kick out of this!

I’m always amazed at things that can make them stop and sit still for a minute.

so precious it makes my heart hurt.

    Phil says:

Is that a cat in the kitchen? Is the cat babysitting Morrow?

  34. 34
    Brad Evangelista says:

It doesn’t get much better than that!

  35. 35
    Jonathan P says:

    i like Orison’s fanfare of peers :)

  36. 36
    Jake says:

Surely there’s no cat. I think that’s just Morrow (left to flounder on the kitchen floor, second-kid style).

If Abraham and Molly are cat people it’s really gonna mess with me.

  37. 37

if there were any animal in their house, I bet it would a squirrel. we all know the affection Abraham has toward those lovely creatures.

  38. 38

So true, Orison. As Dr. Bruce Ware has said, “Function follows ontology. What something does is a function of what something is.”

  39. 39
    Jake says:

Squirrels might be one (i.e. the only) plausible excuse for having a cat. But in this case, I think given how much we’ve heard about the squirrel problem, we would know about the cat before now.

Plus, people who have cats talk about them all the time.

Plus, if memory serves there’s a line in a JP poem making fun of cats, specifically in the context of the Piper sons laughing at their demise. Which means it’s likely AP’s family of origin are not cat people, and that kind of thing does tend to be hereditary.

So I don’t think the Pipers have a cat.

    Frank Turk (and others),

About the video being gone: Using Mozilla Firefox it says it’s no longer available, but using Internet Explorer it loads okay.

    Frank Turk says:

I was using IE7 from home last night and it was gone; now from work it is there again.

  42. 42
    Sharon says:

Wow. That is so great. God bless and protect Orison’s heart.
