In defense of “filler posts”: You don’t always know what will end up worthwhile.

Bloggers, you got nothing to post?

Just write something.

I find such fillers are among my best. (Probably not this one, though.)

Perhaps not your best, but good advice anyway.

Filler comments are another matter. Sometimes, It is better to just not say anything.

I never really know which posts are going to strike a chord with readers.

My latest on hating the Christmas Shoes song got more response than I expected.

I love when I post something seemingly totally random that brings people “out of obscurity” (quoting a recent new commenter, NOT using quotes for emphasis, Mista Tong.)

Or you can misspell something on purpose; leave a word out; say the opposite of what everybody knows you mean, or just write something provocative.

If that fails, there’s always the weather and country music. Everybody’s got an opinion there.

I use my favourite youtube videos as fillers.

And on the flip side, my favorite posts don’t usually seem to be everybody else’s favorites…what can you do.

I totally employed this technique when I was growing up. From the age of about 8-13 my mom made me write something every school day (yay for homeschool). In my childhood writing files, there are probably now a good dozen or so poems and short stories written about having writer’s block. She had to eventually tell me that those didn’t count any more. :)

Pictures or a clip from youtube are excellent fillers.
Although I employ ‘quotes’ mostly in these cases

But you have the good sense to limit yourself to 22 words in your filler posts. Those of us who haven’t mastered such brevity might find filler posts backfiring.

Posting videos of Orison is good filler, too.

Although I admit: they have become a staple here.

Filler comment, but probably something worth asking on the blog…

Is it disobedient to change ones first name? Or what would be wrong with it? Can it be said that the name was divinely appointed and why?

I tend to agree with you on this. I never know what’s going to end up being a hit. I’ve regretted posting some of the fillers I’ve used, but other times they seemed to really be a hit… like one I titled ‘Bug Sushi’. Who would have thunk that, that would have appealed to anyone?

@Frank Martens … well.. I don’t think so.. if God allowed the name changed, it was obviously pre-ordained to happen! (Lest you forget, even GOD changed peoples names… Abram-Abraham, Jacob – Israel, etc….)… the list is short because I’m not sure about the last and for fear of messing anymore up. I’m too lazy to look it up right now…
