Hey, you could back Dylan. Merry Christmas, Abraham! :-)

Oh goodness–it’s not me! I suppose that’s confusing. Sorry about that.

Although, I could probably compete with whoever it is in general singing ability.

Thanks for reminding of this… We’ve circulated this through my family for 2-3 Christmases now, and continue to get almost unending joy from it. Perhaps the most beautiful rendition ever.

    Myrddin says:

Ha!! I thought for sure it was you … not TRYING to sing well, mind you.

When you think it’s someone you know, it’s even better. Because jen and I were sitting here listening to it thinking … OK … not bad, but …

And then at one point she said, “This is supposed to be funny right?” And I said … “Gosh, I don’t know, but how do you comment on something like this if you’re not SURE?”

And then it grew easier to comment as the song reached its finale.

Thanks for the 1/2 moment of Christmas awkwardness when I did think it was you!

This song really does make me want to fall on my knees, though. But just not in the way of the original author’s intention!

    Merry Christmas!

I thought you were serious about it being “remarkable” though I see now your use of the word is completely different than what I was thinking….

Great link! I’m sending it to my co-workers now!

We “deserve” it… kind of like we “deserve” hell, right?

Thanks for the laugh… was it Adam Sandler?

Man…I have heard that somewhere before. I just can’t place where. Apparently I had succeeded in blocking it from my memory. Thanks for undoing that.

i really did think it was going to be a great song. It wasn’t until the big “oh niiiiiiiiggggghhhtttt” at the first chorus that I realized it was supposed to be awful… the rest was listened to with happy cringes. :)
    Merry Christmas from the North!
btw: the “deserve hell” comment from Patty totally cracked me up. :-D

    haha!

ppl will be sinning like that in 50 years time. This soon will be called “contemporary Christian music” (the moaning already resembles some artist…)

Glad you clarified because I was totally thinking this was you as well and, um, well, just a good thing it isn’t.

Merry Christmas to the Pipers tonight!

    Larry says:

I’m missing something. Was the singer trying to be good and failed? That’s tolerable if his intent was to honor God. Was this one of those renditions where the singer was trying to get laughs by intentionally mangling an otherwise beautiful hymn? If so it’s a subtle form of mockery — toward the piece and its hearers (unless they’re in it as a joke too). Sorry to be a frowning grump…I just couldn’t get my head around what this thing represented. But a happy Christmas to you and all nonetheless…

WOW! He put his heart and soul into this one. God bless him for the effort.

    Chris says:

Amen, Nancy. It’s great to hear someone make a joyful noise unto the Lord with all of his/her heart.

When our kids were very little, we used to sing a hymn or chorus at bedtime. One night one of the kids was singing with great gusto and at one point seemed to be becoming irreverent. I interrupted to say, we should not sing funny with Jesus songs. Astonished, the child replied, “But I’m not singing funny….” Fortunately, she continued without giving it another thought.

Last year, my family thought FOR SURE this was my brother-in-law. He sent it out to us, and sounds like how he’d sound trying to sing poorly. It’s funny you fell prey to the same thing, Abraham. I guess a word to the wise–add a disclaimer if you’re going to forward this song to others. :)

I wasn’t sure whether or not it was a joke until I got to about 2:12. After I got up off the floor and managed to stop laughing, I decided he must be doing it on purpose because it’s too good to be a mistake.

    Awesome.

Thank you…thank you …truly thank you. I needed that. It made me laugh until I hurt.
