People have always preferred impersonal contact, it’s just that before the Internet, it was something to joke about. Now it’s commonplace…
Replace “friend” with “spouse” and that sounds like a lot of relationships today. Not mine, though!

I grew up in a small, rural community and this post AND facebook both remind how living in the same place and “knowing each other” automatically makes me “friends” with people. I like it though, seems like it helps me with attitude and behavior toward others.
