I’m mildly disappointed with Target’s new diapers.
With the recent overhaul of Target diapers, not one of the 3 reasons why I used to like them is true anymore.

Okay, that is so funny. We just bought our first box of Target diapers, after remembering your previous post…and we thought “Maybe Abraham is talking about some different diapers…because these aren’t measuring up to his assessment at ALL!” This was a timely post–we no longer think you’re crazy!
Actually 2 of the three reasons are no longer true. They are colored all over AND don’t lie flat.
They did, however, improve the velcro-ish flaps to close the diapers.
One word: Luvs.

If you use G Diapers, you will never want anything else. Easy to use, good for the environment, good price, and best of all… flushable.
Funny that my wife made the first comment, because I was just going to run downstairs and tell her about this post!
I just had a discussion yesterday with a woman in a public restroom who was changing her son, about how we were disappointed with the new Target diapers.
I was so confused when I bought them, too, they were hardly even marked that they were Target’s brand.
i’m actually pretty annoyed by this. i thought this would be one thing we’d have in our arsenal when we have a baby: cheap, awesome diapers.
fail.
I was afraid of this when I saw the new packaging. Costco’s Kirklands brand might be a good alternative though?
gdiapers are .41 cents a diaper and that is just for the refills! Wow…That’s some serious love for the landfills and some serious money over two years.
I was surprised by the positive remarks here about Target’s diapers b/c I decided to try them about a month ago… :( I was pretty disappointed. I use Pampers (pricey, but they’ve been very good to me). If you’re a Sam’s Club member I’ve heard the Member’s Mark is good (but I don’t ever go near a Sam’s…)
Dawn:
After much figuring, we’ve found that over 2 years the gdiapers are actually less than disposable because of the benefits of being a regular customer. Every 10 UPCs you receive from them, you get an entire case of refills for free (that’s over 100 diaper refills). I’m not a global-warming, save the whales kinda guy, but I do like to find things that are a bit more friendly to God’s creation and (my biggest draw) a lot less disgusting for me. I can just flush the things down the toilet as soon as they’re off — I don’t have to store them in the garbage, only to wake up the next morning and find that my neighbors dog got into the trash! The actual pant that the refill goes into is relatively cheap, is better than a cloth diaper, and very rarely gets messed up. So, the up front cost is a bit more, but in the long run, it comes in a bit less… and a LOT less hassle and nastiness too!
Repeat customers save 10%. Good to know.
I agree about the new Target diapers. We won’t be making the change to Up & Up with them. However, there’s a phone number customers can call to give feedback to Target about their products. I called recently to let them know I prefer the old product and was met with a friendly voice to (apparently) took note of my concerns and then sent me $6 worth of reimbursement coupons.
Call and tell them what you think! Maybe we can get our good old cheap wonder-diapers back!

I’m sorry for your family about this. What a pain to have to switch now, huh? (or live with the ones you don’t like as much)
We use cloth diapers: Kissaluvs fitted with a Bummis Whisper Wrap cover. So easy, such.great.diapers! We have never had a blowout – ever ever ever.
They cost about $14 per diaper (we have 12) and about the same for a cover (we have 6). Our son was in the size 1′s for 45 weeks….I would say we more than got our money’s worth on that.
We passed the diapers onto my sister who is now using them for her newborn daughter.
Like the gdiaper dad above (Nick, was it?) we do feel good about God’s creation but even more so we feel great about what is next to baby’s skin.
But TOTALLY UNDERSTANDING that to each their own. Parenting is hard enough already.
Stop wearing them then.
I agree they stink- after this box is used up I won’t be buying them again.
Ed offered a good solution, but if you’re not willing to do that, try LUVS. I was amazed at how well they worked and what a good price they were.
I definitely endorse Costco’s Kirkland brand diapers. I like them better than Huggies for sure. I haven’t done a price assessment for a while but I really liked them for my first two kids. At one time I also really really liked the Long’s Drugs house brand… whatever that was. :)
Kirkland brand .26 cents a diaper for size 4 – Sorry – I can’t help myself! I am an accountant. The numbers…they crunch.
Others have recommended cloth too, but here I’ll go with the same: see, now, if you went with bumGenius you wouldn’t have any of these problems. And they’re cheaper. Well, not initially, but they pay off in the long run. And, if I may speak for it, the earth likes them better :)
I’ve seen a few people endorsing Luvs here, but we hated those. They were all plastic-y and not breathable like Huggies, Pampers & (old) Target. Luvs = diaper rash.
I haven’t tried them, but if you have a Kroger grocery store I hear their brand of diaper is pretty much the same as the old Target brand.
How did I miss the cloth diaper recommendation thread!?!?! I’ll put a vote in for Fuzzi Bunz – they are awesome. I thought it was crazy until I tried it. :)
I have to say, Walmart diapers have been the best store brand diaper I have used. Better then Luvs too.
