(I am a midwesterner who just moved to SoCal after marrying my very SoCal husband.) My husband regularly makes fun of me for adding the word "Street" "Avenue" "Place" "Court" etc. Apparently it's the SoCal thing to just say the name of the street without adding anything on to it. (i.e. "Take Melrose to Norte, to Morningview".) Or maybe that's just me. I've also been corrected on numerous occasions for calling the FREEWAY an expressway. oops.
