When people say, “If I were you, I’d…” they really mean, “If you were me, you’d…”

When I say to Molly, “If I were you…,” I’m overlooking that if I were Molly, I’d do things exactly like…Molly.

    What about this one…’with all due respect’ actually means….I think what I am going to say now is going to offend you. So how does one offend respectfully? And what is DUE offense?
