The one advantage of having your kid learn drums instead of guitar.

When they’re in a band, they usually practice at the drummers house, so at least you always know where your kids are.

Great point. I hope my kid plays drums actually.

Eventually, your drummer will want to play guitar, and eventually, your guitar player will want to play drums.

So totally 1/2 true – both my drummers play piano (they had to learn mallet instruments like xylophone and marimba in school band) and so it was a natural progression to practice the scales on the piano, which of course led to understanding and playing chord progressions and songs and then to chords on the guitar and now both of them are fooling around with the bass and back to scales leading from the root of the chord to walk a rounds.

My Guitar playing son has no interest in the drums.

Isn’t that also the one disadvantage too, the practicing at your house. Turn it down!

I wasn’t so fortunate. Oh, the amount of equipment I’ve moved. But, it was all worth it.

When I first read that – I thought, “that is so true,” then I read it again and thought, “didn’t I say that?”

That sounds like a blessing in high-decibel disguise.
