I agree…given certain circumstances and the sinfulness of our hearts, many of us would be capable of doing many terrible things…
Completely agree. Which is why I try to avoid certain circumstances because I know my sinful heart and assume that what I am aware of is only the tip of the iceberg.
Sobering for sure.
That’s why I would never make a statement like that.
Crap.
yes sir it’s true.
it’s not even fair to say I would never make such prideful conclusions, because I’m prone to be quite arrogant and forget that I hang by grace.
Delivered from sin–really and gloriously…but there’s no limit to the deception of which I’m capable and to which I’m inclined.
SO…I would never call my waitress a B , but making that statement seems to be a claim on my goodness not a recognition of grace.
So I would never make a statement that I would never do that, but then again I might just forget my dependency and take up boastful “I would never’s”
A wise conclusion!
I dare say there are some “I would nevers” solidified in my mind… I don’t trust me to utter.
I’m inclined to believe that as soon as those words cross my lips, God says “Wanna bet?”
No doubt!
yes. in all seriousness, yes.
but…just for fun…
i would NEVER wear a terry cloth tube top to church.
in this matter, i find myself quite trustworthy.
You crack me up!
Same here.
Good one, jennapants. :)
thanks. upon further thought (and yes, i rethink comments too much), i should have added that by the grace of God, I would NEVER have a terry cloth tube top in my wardrobe.
What about promises?
“I will never…”
As a youth pastor I am always leery when a parent says “My kid would never…” My wife and I have tried to be conscientious about saying it of our own children
