I was driving with my fiance to get married in Pennsylvania when I heard Johnny Cash died. I think I might’ve cried.

wow, okay, thought it was later. Been a long time. I was 16 years old was a jr in high school. I remember watching his video “hurt” on MTV and then hearing that he had died shortly after his wife, June, had died.
I just remember her sudden death and it was almost like once she passed he was ready to go. Kind of fitting really.

Cash is always a good gift. My three month old song seems to like it when I sing Cash’s music to him.

I was at work and teared up when I heard, but I immediately thought that at least he didn’t have to live without June for long.

I was singing Cash’s “The Legend of John Henry’s Hammer” when I came across this post. I miss him.

I’m listening to it over at lala. It always makes me sad to hear American V and I feel the same about this. I’m glad that John was able to keep singing and recording, but he was so sick. If someone had played these recordings for him twenty years ago, would he have wanted them released. They seem almost too personal–too raw.
