The last two times (Pompey won both 4-1) are historic turning points for at least one of the clubs. Southampton haven't recovered, 5 years later, from losing to Pompey when they last played in the league (even the weather in Southampton changed according to the scoreline!). Pompey nearly ceased to exist due to going bust around the last time they played - in their darkest hour and having gone behind, they managed to out stamina a Southampton side giving everything and scored 3 in the last 15 minutes.
