Impossible but awesome music: Imagining the ideal cover versions of songs

If you could hear any band play any song, what combination would you choose?

For instance, I think it would be pretty funny to hear “Song of the Volga Boatmen” done by the Sex Pistols or Elliot Smith.

Or, more seriously, Townes Van Zandt singing “Fisherman’s Blues.”

Google and Verizon have a billboard along I94 in North Minneapolis that says “Droid does apps.”

Every time I see it, I think that it’s like if Blockbuster advertised that their DVDs play movies or if Honda did a promo about how their vehicles are equipped with wheels.

What do they want, a cookie?
