The Double Rainbow meme is dead, dead, dead. Here’s proof…

Prevailing wisdom is that a meme is officially dead when mainstream media picks it up and teleprompters nationwide tell anchorpeople to laugh at it on screen. But apparently, when that happens, a meme is only mostly dead, which, as we all know, is still partly alive.

So when does complete and total death comes to a hapless meme? When can we be certain that virtual rigor mortis is only moments away?

When Microsoft makes an ad out of it…

Mind you, I’m not being critical toward Double Rainbow Man. I would do the exact same thing. He’s at 14:59 on his fame-clock and someone still wants to pay him…

So does this mean Antoine Dodson is going to be in a Mac commercial soon?

  2. 2

He really could have done better than Microsoft -at least Pepsi or something.

Time to go through this meme’s clothes and look for loose change.

The best companies make up their own memes (Old Spice)

I think just about everything Apple makes becomes a meme.

I’m so slow to catch on to these things that it’s probably safe to say a meme is officially dead when I finally hear about it.

Unless the meme has a noble cause and “true love is the greatest thing in the world, except for a nice MLT (mutton, lettuce, tomato)… but he obviously said ‘to blave’.”

    Wow.

Also, did you see the Ben & Jerry’s website the other day, when it featured some Double Rainbow tributes? I think they’ve changed it already, but it was pretty epic.

I think it should have been for a skittles commercial…

But you have to give Double Rainbow man props, he never put advertisements on his video. I guess he cashed in another way.

I read the word “meme” used to describe so many different types of things, I’m not exactly sure what a “meme” is. The one thing they all seem to have in common is that they’re annoying. So annoying, when I see the word, I usually click away. Then again, I don’t see why so many people are so crazy about texting, so I probably qualify as a fuddy-duddy. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

That was mildly painful to watch. Also, I saw a double rainbow earlier this evening in Minneapolis. Just can’t help but sing that song…
