Awesome new Twins anthem by Craig Finn of the Hold Steady

Craig Finn rockingly rehearses some Twins history and asks kindly that you don’t call them Twinkies.

I’ll be honest, this song kinda gives me the chills…

(I hope the audio works better for you than it did for me…)

They played this at the game yesterday. Thanks for the link.

Listened to it a little more. I feel your chills. While I wasn’t there in ’87 or ’91, I’m here now and excited to be a part of Twins territory! This is what sports is supposed to be about. We felt it yesterday when I was there with my three boys, enjoying the excitement, energy and basking in another divisional championship. I hope to hear this song blasting from the TV in late October.

This is great. Really like it.

But it’s amusing how Minnesotan it is ask so politely, even in a rocking song like this.

“Please don’t call them Twinkies.” I guess that counts as a macho threat among our kind. :-)

Somewhere GB Leighton is curled up in a corner sucking his fingers for comfort. Because *this* is a great Twins song. So many perfect moments & lines…

I don’t LOL for real very often, but “You should watch it in slow motion / Ron Gant was clearly out” got me real good.

And “Kent Hrbek had the smirk.” Yep! If anyone has video of Hrbek’s pregame “No Smoking but drink all the beer you want!” ritual pantomime, and YouTubed it, I think s/he’d complete the Internet.

My current mission is to turn this into my ringtone. That’s the highest compliment I can pay a song.
