I misread it initially and thought it was “A Christmas Story reenacted by the original cast”. Then I thought, “Oh cool! I love that movie!” Then I was disappointed that it was a Facebook retelling of the birth of Christ.
But then…well I don’t know. I started to tear up. It’s often hard to think of Joseph and Mary as just regular people. They become larger than life in our Christmas celebrations. This kind of helped put a face of them in a way, if that makes any sense. No pun intended. By the end my Christmas spirit had been rekindled and I felt so grateful for my Savior putting on human flesh for me.
A little tear action here, too. I agree w/you, it is hard to think of them as normal people living out their normal lives before God’s intervention. Very neat video.
That part definitely got some laughs where I was! It was funny caused I had just seen it on here and then I wondered if that is where they got it. That would be funny!
I was expecting this to be funny. Instead, I was touched. It made fresh a story I’ve heard hundreds of times and gave me a moment of sincere reflection.
Well see, that was kind of what I was dealing with earlier. But after thinking about it for a little bit, I have definitely changed my view. I think that we forget that Mary and Joseph were just people. They weren’t saints, they were just a young couple living their lives. Then one day everything changed. Mary was pregnant?! Scandal, disgrace.. They had emotions, doubts, feelings and everything else that normal people deal with and I think this helps us to remember that and to be able to relate to what they went through.
It seems like it’s just the way things may have unfolded if the events happened today. Also, the music helped set the tone. If it had been accompanied by some silly pop version of a Christmas carol, I would not have liked it at all.
Not gonna lie…..I teared up a little bit. I guess it doesn’t matter how you tell it, the story of Jesus is beautiful.

I wonder how many churches will show this in their effort to still be relevant.
The church I went to this morning did. Not sure how I feel about it..
Ours did and it was awesome. Way better watching it with 400 people than by myself in the kitchen.
The hooting and hollering when Joseph got unfriended was pretty funny.

I doubt they got it from me… I’d be honored, though, if they had.
If I ran a church I’d definitely play it.
I do believe my Christmas spirit has been renewed.
Could only find a manger for his son to sleep in, but was still posting facebook status updates. Keepin’ it classy, Joseph.

Watching this, and feeling my heart stirred over the story it tells gives me some hope that I still believe, or at least still want to.
Never let facts stand in the way of faith and good storytelling! :)
I’ve watched it twice now, and I’m having a hard time shaking the feeling it’s kind of disrespecful.

Oscar Winning best documentary. AWESOME!!!!!!! I don’t see disrepectful…maybe it will reach someone to seek the Lord.
Beautiful!
I wish that after Jesus’ name, Joseph would have also typed, “He will save his people from their sins.”
Just read some of the comments. I’m glad I watched it by myself and not in a big group with the distractions of all kinds of reactions…
Amazing! I was really blessed by this!
The sad thing is, Facebook really is this central to our lives.
