Why are Egyptians protesting in the streets: A brief primer
Noor Khan is an assistant professor of history at Colgate University, with a specialty in modern Egypt.
I recommend reading his article “A Short Primer on Egypt Now.”
It’ll only take you 5 or 7 minutes and will give you a fairly clear, over-all idea of the frustrations that are boiling over in Egypt these days.

Thank you for sharing. I feel more informed now about what exactly is going on. I hope that the transition comes bloodlessly.
Bloodlessly? A little late for that. By some accounts nearly 100 people have died already.
That link isn’t working for me. It might be blocked from Kenya, not sure.
Here is an alternate viewpoint:

Morris’s solution: more meddling and arm-twisting. Yeah, that should calm Muslim animosity toward America.
“No one is fooled by the ‘elections’ that just play musical chairs with the people already in power.”
I keep wondering when Americans will stop being fooled.
“Egypt gets 1.3 billion in military aid from the USA.”
A HUGE part of the problem, not only in Egypt but all over the Middle East.
We’re in Prague and have a missionary friend flying in right now as she evacuates Egypt.
My first thought when we got the call? “I better go back and read that article on 22Words so I don’t look like an idiot in conversation when she gets here.”
So thanks.
