Three guys in Lederhosen thrashing like mad to polka music

I don’t know if my title is an accurate description, but it’s how I’m going to interpret this photo for now. The other alternative is that they are having some kind of ancient Bavarian slap fight.
If anyone has a more educated guess as to what’s actually going on here, I’d be pretty curious…

Love that game. What bloody knuckles and finger jousting was to my youth, ninja is to my kids’.
Saw it with them for the first time at Sonshine music fest a few years ago, 50+ playing at a time. That game was accompanied by guitarists and performers in funny outfits, too.
While watching this video (muted b/c the baby is sleeping) my 6 year old daughter walked up behind me and said, “Oh, they’re playing Ninja.”
The guy in the hat is doing the “robot” I believe.

The Swedes have a dance where two guys “fight” called the Oxen Dance. I’ve seen it done many times in these parts during Swedish Fests. I’ve seen it done very well and also lethargically. Here’s a link to the dance, though not from the local talent. In the work-up to this dance/fight there is one sought-after girl dancer involved, thus the reason for the competitive dance/fight.

According to my Bavarian friend, Sophia “it’s a traditional Bavarian dance style.” Adds to the wonder of Bavarians – at least for me.
