The only reason for a binding contract is to protect the innocents – i.e. the kids. This modern western notion that marriage, straight gay or otherwise is about “declaring our undying love” as if it’s something special and unique seems self indulgent to me.

Gay marriage is a moral issue. So is foisting your beliefs on others. So, IMHO two people who want to get married, divorced, snoggled, etc. that’s pretty much their business only. If they demand you honor or respect or otherwise recognize that fact, that’s up to you. But I’d suggest you try treat everybody equally. Now if your beliefs demand you try to prevent others from equal protection under the law, I’d suggest that you ought to resist that urge and learn to live and let live. You’ll be happier for it.
