Any idea on the date of this photo? I’m guessing late Civil war (’64-’65) – it’s easy to see the effect of the weight he carried.

On a side note, you have to wonder if he’d ever have been elected in our visually-oriented society. The color seems to enhance his “lack of aesthetic appeal.”

I thought the same thing. Shave his beard, put him in a modern day suit and when he shows up as your attorney, no one would ever think he had what it takes to be one of the greatest presidents in US history.

    • Brendan says:

I believe this is the last known photo of the president, dates a few weeks before his death, by Brady.

  2. Lee Shelton says:

Some people were made for black-and-white photography.

  3. Brendan says:

Anyone know or have a clue what the president is holding???

Get magnifier and see, looks intersting

  4. debra says:

  5. Brendan says:

  6. Heather says:

    I think he’s knitting!

  7. David says:

He’s holding his reading glasses. Apparently, whoever colorized the photo didn’t realize that.
