And when finished they sat back and marveled at their technology.
And for good reason.
Looks like a great setting for a Resident Evil game.
That looks like it could be the scene of a disaster movie. The thing looks like it could fail at any second.
It totally does look like something out of a Resident Evil game.
There are two currently functioning inclines in Pittsburgh– the Duquesne and the Monongahela inclines. I believe they were both built in the 1800′s and commuters who live on Mt Washington still use them, but I think primarily they’re used for sight seeing– as the overlook from the top of Mt Washington is on the list of top 10 best views in the US. It’s worth googling. I have a couple good pics from up there at sunrise if you decide to blog about it.
There’s a great look out there now where I used to, um, hang out with my (now) wife… ;) The streetcar is long gone, though.
I used to “um” there too. But usually I just enjoyed the view.
It’s the best place to enjoy a Big Thunderstorm!
As a Cincinnati resident I love that you posted these photos. The city has been struggling to get the street cars back and images such as these remind me that at one time they were a wonderful part of our city.
Thank you for posting these! I’m a Cincinnati native as well, and I just love seeing Cincinnati’s historic features… sadly, many of them are gone now.
Funny old story associated with Cincinnati’s inclines– one of them (there were 5) was owned by a ‘pious’ Christian man who would not do business on Sundays. He didn’t want to miss out on a day’s profits though, so every Saturday night, he sold the incline to a friend, and every Monday morning, he bought it back. :)
