How to drive politely: Don’t kill pedestrians (even if they’re asking for it), 1923
From The Book of Good Manners: A Guide to Polite Usage for all Social Functions, by Frederick H. Martens, 1923

(via Questionable Advice)
As silly as the advice seems, anyone from my neighborhood or one like it knows that this “temptation” is very real.

Amen.
I’m not very polite then. When people do that to me, I close my eyes and continue the same trajectory at the same speed. Funny thing is, I’ve never hit anyone…
“YIELD to pedestrian in crosswalk” signs always make me snicker. So, if they’re not in the crosswalk… ?
We are the only country where cars have to watch out for people. I nearly got killed in Ireland and Russia because it’s the other way around!
Not the only country…in Portugal we had to yield if a pedestrian was even near a crosswalk.
In Killarney, Ireland, my daughter and I were on the crosswalk and the driver just yelled at us.
lol
I like that he used the word “slay”. That word needs to be used more often.
These courtesy guidelines came out long before Death Race 2000.
Where I live, ghetto people cross the road “hella” slowly. I am going to use this description: “i-dare-you-to-hit-me” attitude; because, I honestly feel as if they are daring me.
