Doomsday Photoshop artist Steve McGhee’s images of death and destruction

From Steve McGhee:

Inspiration comes from the epicenter of the horrific and the heavenly in equal measure.… Either way, it heals. It saves. It gives me a place to put feelings that would otherwise be too overwhelming…

Image of a plane crashing into a busy downtown

Image of winter in a postapocalyptic downtown

Image of an alien ship destroying a busy city

An image of an old lady pointing a gun at a young lady in a subway

Image of a skyscraper-high tidal wave about to overwhelm a city

Caption for #4: It’s all fun and games til some old lady shoots you in the face.

I’m baffled why anyone would wish to purchase his doomsday work?

    • Why not? It’s beautifully done even as it treads the line between comfortable and uncomfortable. That second image is particularly striking and his website had a number of rather lovely pieces.

The plane in that first picture is massively out of scale, unless its pilot and copilot are each the size of one of the pickup trucks in the street below… The inside of a typical fuselage isn’t much bigger than a large city bus, but it looks like you could fit about four of them across it.
