    This sums up US politics pretty nicely. Focus on how to make your opponent seem like a retard (making it a bad choice to vote him) instead of focusing on how to make yourself look smart (the wise choice).

    After all, it is always easier to slander someone than it is to build a good reputation for yourself based on your beliefs and actions.
