One of the best letters The London Times ever received

This 1946 note to The Times was never published in the paper, but was preserved by the staff…

Transcript:

To the Editor of The Times.

Sir,

I have just written you a long letter.

On reading it over, I have thrown it into the waste paper basket.

Hoping this will meet with your approval…

A lot of blog commenters need to take that approach. I can’t tell you how many comments I’ve spent 5 or 10 minutes on and then not posted once I realize my comment doesn’t need to be heard or is too involved for the comment section.
