That painting disturbs me. In many ways. Especially because she looks 15 and all the black cloth is see-through; bra and belly button clearly visible, no undies. Weird work.
Rumspringa (I think) is the time when teenage Amish get to try out the outside world’s life for a while before leaving the church or being baptized into it. Makes the weird, inappropriate vibe of her visible sexiness/invisible guitar totally interesting and strangely appropriate.
“Jimmy Cracked Corn” has a strange and perverse mind if that’s what he sees in this picture. Ditto to what KP says. Amish teenagers who are 16-20ish go through a time where they are allowed to go into the world of the “Englischers”….dress like them, act like them, and learn “modern” skills like driving a car. The theory is that after this experience of Rumspringa, the young adults will realize that the Amish ways of life are better and they return and are baptized into the church.

My two cents.
Huh????
You have a vivid imagination. I don’t see any bra or really much overt sexuality at all in this.
Hmm, I don’t think it’s the painting that is disturbing… ;)
Your interpretation disturbs me. I mean, no undies….seriously! When is a brushstroke just a brushstroke?
She kind of has man hands…
“man hands” is from doin’ actual work.
