Embarrassing yet ridiculously hilarious women’s Motocross highlight reel

The rider at :20 took bronze, so that pretty much sums up how the race went…

At SB Nation, they submit two theories as to how this could possibly have happened…

The first is that the executives at ESPN are sexist 4chan commenters in disguise, and paid a group of retired ladies to don motorcycle helmets and bumble through this course while watching on the internet and laughing until they died. The other is that every woman here was required to get blind drunk before starting…

Here’s the whole thing, which is even funnier and more facepalm-inducing, but 9 times as painful long… (They have people coming out on the course to help them get their bikes up. Is that even legal?)

Here’s basically how it was supposed to go…

And finally, you can go watch that highlight clip again with the proper soundtrack…

  3. Nick says:

I laughed out loud so hard at this. Hysterical.

  4. jimbob says:

anyone else here the announcer go “this is the one that counts at the beginning of the men’s race lol

  5. todd says:

to a casual observer, it would appear that the bikes are too big for the women…

  6. Chad says:

@Todd: you are probably correct, but I don’t think a smaller bike would go over those obstacles. Kind of a Catch-22

  7. Erin says:

Wow, that is painful to watch. If only they could build up a bit of speed. Did they not have to run any similar courses to get there?

  8. Josh S says:

How is that possible? Seems like it has to be a joke…

  9. Carl says:

    The poor yellow flag guys.

  10. The D says:

I’m not sure I get the joke here. Are we supposed to go “Ahaha, look at those dumb women.” Then “Oh, crap, those are guys! This changes everything?” It’s funny either way.
Is this supposed to be some sort of commentary on the perception of men vs. the perception of women? Because I really don’t see a difference in the level of humor. I’m actually just annoyed because it feels like someone is trying to shove a poorly executed argument down my throat.

    That’s a HUGE kitchen!!!

  12. Amber says:

That is hilarious! But in all fairness, some of the guys are having a pretty rough time too. I would never be able to do that, it looks really difficult.

  13. Mar says:

I guess this is proof that women cannot do anything a man can do. My other guess is a combo of old ladies that were completely drunk. They seemed to have no riding experience at all.

  14. Dan says:

lol how on earth did those women get into the X games? They look like a bunch of amateurs.

  15. Jeff says:

They are all in a hurry to get back to their kitchens to make sandwiches

  16. N-- says:

I don’t think it’s the people, it’s the course… I’m guessing even Chuck Norris would have a hard time with that course.

  17. LissFirefly says:

Do they go…over…2 miles per hour?

  18. snowkat1052 says:

Pretty sure I could have beat them on a mountain bike…

  19. Jon says:

Seriously though, in light of all the obviously sexist troll comments, the selection of riders in the first two videos seemed a little too small to be controlling motorbikes that weigh in excess of 150kg… It’s like trying to put a drag racing car around a gymkhana circuit with a truck driver at the wheel. I’d also imagine that experience may come into it at some point. Fair call that if any of the female riders had been riding as long as the male ones in the third video, they’d most likely be just as good. I also know that I (and probably everyone else posting comments on this blog) would have wiped out way before most of the female riders did. All it takes is a little thought and common sense to see the reality of the post.

The “reality” is that those women are obviously under-prepared for the sport they *chose* to compete in. I imagine its not their first time on a bike and if they truly cared about their sport, they would have found a way to maximize their advantages and minimize their disadvantages. Winners don’t make excuses, THEY WIN. That’s why they’re winners.

  20. GordieGii says:

The ‘women’ were all like 16, 17 years old and the guys were from 23 to 39. That might make a difference

  21. JeffB says:

Kudos to the ladies for trying. To everyone who wonders how they got there… Someone has to win and the video does show a few completing the course. As for everyone else making excuses for why they didn’t do so well compared to the men: It doesn’t matter if they’re women, the point is that they made it to a semi-pro (at least) level of a sport that they’re hopefully good at. Sure, not everyone could do it, but that’s why the track only has a finite number of people making the rounds, those are it, the ones who *can* do it (not to say they will or are still able). Anyways, even a women could have figured out how to defy the odds and I’d say the ones that won hobbled as best they could to the end and hopefully they’ll practice more in the future to master their trade.

this is TERRIBLE!!!!!!! embarassing at the LEAST!!! OMG

  23. Kristy says:

Or so angry you could spit. It seems sometimes people are looking for that something extra to pull the look of a room in their home together.
Instead of hiring a DJ or catering your holiday event, make sure that your holiday party invitations encourage your talented
friends to perform, bring dishes for a potluck or provide entertainment in the form of a white
elephant gift exchange or ornament exchange.

  24. Paula says:

I think the problem is that women are GENERALLY more timid than men and not fit for sports that take risks. (because they’re not as stupid as men!!!!) I wonder how they got this far. Did they not practice this course first?
