The Smithsonian has a new blog called “The Innovation Department.”
In an unfortunate oversight, this blog about “human ingenuity” is represented by an image of 3 gears that can’t possibly operate because they’re interlocking. Even if they could move, the teeth on the larger gear aren’t equally spaced, which means the machine would likely be jammed before it makes a complete rotation.
And then, of course, there’s the general aesthetic of the thing…
