When we lived in the Philippines – it was the same thing, but with soda. You’d buy a bottle of Pepsi, the vendor would pour it into a bag & give you a straw. The vendor kept the bottle.
Yes, it’s normal to buy beverages from street vendors that are sold in bags w/ straws. Wouldn’t recommend it to a foreigner — our stomach flora are quite different, and odds are you’d get very sick from their water base (until you’d lived there for months or longer). Same goes for nothing with ice.
You are talking about some place in China and most places in India, I guess. Qingdao is a quite nice city in China and I’m sure you’d be ok with the beer. It’s called Yuan Jiang beer (原浆啤酒)。I’m not an expert in beers, but it seems it’s special as the yeasts are left in it. Allegedly very good. Some background to increase my credibility: I’ve been to Qingdao and US and Europe. Qingdao used to be colonized by German so it’s actually not that surprising if they make decent beers. Well, do go there and see for yourself someday.
Straw? Or IV line?

“Will you back the bottle?” I bought orange fanta :-)
It’s a giant Capri Sun, or, Capri Tsun.
bahahahaha…thanks for that. :)))
Yup, same when I lived in Mexico. The bottles were worth more than the coke so the store would keep them. As kids we were pretty impressed!
