The concept is quite nice, but what happens when, as Stephen surmises, the tread wears down and the pump tube wears out? does the tire begin to leak air? Obviously you will need to replace it but how soon after the pumping mechanism is rendered inoperable, and how long will it take to wear that down? It seems to me that, self pumping or no, this tire will have the same, if not shorter, operation length as a regular bike tire.
I would assume that eventually the pump tube breaks open as you use your breaks.
