The Kansas City Public Library is designed to look like books on a shelf.

At first you look at these pictures and you think, “Cool! The building looks like books. And it’s a library. I get it.”

Then you think, “Those must be large-print editions of Charlotte’s Web and Romeo and Juliet.

Shouldn’t they make the building look like an e-reader? Oh wait. All buildings look like that.

This is actually just the parking garage for the Library. The Library itself is connected next to it and was originally The First National Bank Building. It has a media center in the original huge bank vault and a cafe called the Nine Muses Cafe. Here is the website for it: http://kclibrary.org/central

I grew up in KC but haven’t lived there for over 20 years. Its great to see my cool old hometown get more innovative and creative redevelopment going on in downtown, which was a dead zone in the 70′s and 80′s. I plan to check it out next time I visit my folks.

Question: Tale of two cities is that the one written by that Christian Theologian or a different one?
(If that one will be taken out soon)
