Well of course he was not allowed to answer questions about Henry Sugar as he was sworn to secrecy about who he really was and his current whereabouts. The rest of the letter is classic Roald Dahl and I would have expected nothing less.
Roald Dahl was a master of words and storytelling and so many know only of his children’s books and have not read his adult (and some VERY adult) writings.
Roald Dahl’s two autobiographies, Boy, about his childhood, and Going Solo, about the start of his adulthood, are as wonderful reads as his children’s books and give great insight into the author.
I love roald Dahl! One of my favorite children’s authors!
Rejection form letter.

Just wondering what would have happened if John McEnroe had asked said question. “Answer the question, jerk!”

I have read his short stories for grown ups and they are quite well written. Just as wicked and clever as his kids books. He was truely a master!
Actually he was kind of a drunken dickhead. A good writer but still a dickhead.
