I think that is a really racist thing to say. It looks like this man is an Indian, so highly likely he is Hindu, which means he is vegetarian AND cannot harm any living thing.
He is clearly rescuing them.
I was thinking the same thing – its the guys dinner.
I wouldn’t say its racist – rather its more of an individual statement directed at that specific person holding the kittens.
However it is quite as assumption to say that because he is ‘indian’ means he is ‘hindu’ is generalising/stereotype.
He could be Muslim, Pakistani or Christian or from Sri Lanka…I don’t know what is worse, generalising a whole nation or calling someone a racist when they aren’t.
I thought the same thing! I’ve never seen a cat do that before. I didn’t know that was possible. Just goes to prove how completely devoted moms are. :)
Who cares if he is eating them or not? On farms animals such as pigs are often named, played with, shown at fairs, and bred for babies, only to end up on the dinner table. Just because it is a cat, which to Americans has become a house pet and nothing else, does not mean that it is an abnormal or “Disgusting” meal to someone else. Hell, in China (Or was it Korea?) in Asia they eat dogs with the normalcy we’d eat a sirloin with. Killing and eating is not cruelty, it is life.

Good things vegetables aren’t “living things.” BTW – they ARE!
Might wanna update the ol’ screenname to Carrot Lover or something. Vegetables are living things? Please. Certainly you can identify the differences between a kitten and a cabbage.
As and Indian myself, I find that comment very, very, very offensive. Hindu’s value life and for someone to say something like that? I find it disgusting. Be it whoever it was – to say someone would even do such a thing to those adorable kittens is WRONG. I am thoroughly disgusted with you “Donnie”.
A villager carries kittens on a basket towards dry land as he wades through floodwaters, followed by the mother of the kittens, on the outskirts of Cuttack city, about 30 kilometers from the eastern Indian city of Bhubaneshwar Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011. AP / Biswaranjan Rout
I think it’s tragic that he isn’t trying to help the Mom, too. Those babies (in the back are watching as their Mom fights for her life – and may not make it). I hope all the people/animals made it okay…
Tragic? A picture only conveys a moment in time. Look at the size of the basket. The mother cat could have been in the basket, freaked out and jumped into the water.
He’s going to eat those cats.
+1

I guess that’s better than shooting them up with a lethal dose of toxins and piling them up in the alley for the garbage man to dump.
and look at the mama swimming beside him
