You must be careful to use colder butter if you’re going to do this, the warmer the butter is before baking-the more likely your cookies are to spread.
I’m good with imagining what goes in the bowl (vanilla ice cream and hot fudge topping!), but I don’t understand the cookie physics of it. Why doesn’t the dough just keep spreading until you have cookie-coated oven coils and nothing left on the muffin pan? Also, I must need more specific instruction because I’m not sure if you’d put the dough on top in a ball or if you’d form it around the pan.
I may have to experiment. In the name of cookie science, of course.
The Neatorama link says to form the dough around the muffin pan.

I tryed this the other night and formed the dough aroind the cupcake holders. and it spread so much! I also used spray butter… would.that have been my problem?
