The cast of Happy Days playing softball at Wrigley Field, 1979

Here’s the story from Wrigley Field: The Unauthorized Biography…

The ABC-TV series Happy Days was staggeringly popular in the 1970s and even the event-phobic Cubs got on board. On August 17, 1979, a team of actors and producers from the show came to Wrigley field to take on a contingent of Chicago media figures in a pregame softball contest.…

In a seven-inning contest, the Happy Days team (featuring Henry Winkler, Ron Howard, Anson Williams, Tom Bosley, Marion Ross, Donny Most, Erin Moran, Scott Baio, and Garry Marshall) and the Chicago media club (managed by Lou Boudreau) tied 4-4.
