Amen.
I think photographers are just oversensitive. Even people with real jobs have to deal with this same issue from time to time.*
*Sarcasm in use.(or blatant trolling, take your pick.)
It’s payback for the 1,000,000+ ads on craigslist of you f*ckers looking for models to work for nothing but experience. YOU started the trend. Suck it up.
Very true, but there are plenty of other jobs where this applies. I have a friend who is a contractor, everyone wants free work from him. My brother is a doctor and he is bombarded with medical questions. My brother in law works on computers and everyone he knows calls for him to fix theirs. Even as a pastor I am called on to preach or perform ceremonies for free by any pastor or mild acquaintance.
But, I don’t mind, nor do my friends and relatives, because we have jobs that pay us a steady salary. Most photographers are free-lance and don’t have that luxury and their primary network to make money is friends and acquaintances who likely want the free service.
Yes, lots of other professionals get requests from friends and family for free work. But for photographers, writers, graphic designers and many other professional freelancers, it’s TOTAL STRANGERS who think we should be delighted to work for them at no charge. Or who feel it’s their right to appropriate our work for their own purposes. All so that we can get “exposure.” That doesn’t pay the rent.
^ this.
but photographers are basically just people with cameras. the skills required are negligible.
wow
I assume this is a joke. If not, why not just say that you are a creep willing to feed off the effort of others, so just feed me.
