Rock climber standing on a narrow ledge along the face of a sheer cliff
Alex Honnold on the northwest face of Half Dome in Yosemite…

It gets even scarier when you read his description of the photo…
My back is to the cliff wall and below is a sheer drop. It is part of the route to the top and has to be traversed by all climbers of Half Dome, with or without rope. Some climbers wade down and edge themselves across with their arms along the ledge. Some climbers sit on their backsides and edge themselves across that way.
I felt though, that walking across it was cooler. It is around a foot wide at the start, but narrows to six inches by the end. By the end, the cliff wall bows out and pushes your back forwards so that you are literally peering over the sheer drop”

Posts like this bring out my cremnophobia. Nothing like a good rush of adrenaline to wake you up in the morning (as long as I don’t actually have to walk across that ledge).
I read, “…so that you are literally peeing over the sheer drop.” Which is, in fact, what I would be doing at that point.
The 60 Minutes piece on him a few days back was fascinating.
+1 Amazing.
This guy’s a gravity specialist…
my hands are getting sweaty just looking at this
This is my absolute nightmare.
Did he say “peering over the sheer drop” or “peeing”?
Makes me a bit nauseous to even look at the picture…
