Giant, meat-eating, albino snail discovered in New Zealand
Because the largest insect in the world being in New Zealand isn’t enough, there is also a massive carnivorous snail there. Tourism numbers are through the roof as word of the creature spreads, I’m sure.

This giant, albino Powelliphanta was discovered by hikers in the New Zealand wilderness.
From The Daily Mail…
They can grow to around the size of a man’s fist and live for around 20 years.
They feed on worms and slugs and any other small creature that can’t outrun a snail…
OK — worms and slugs — So we’re safe. Still, they sound scary. Wikipedia describes how they eat…
A Powelliphanta uses a rudimentary radula to devour its prey. The radula is like a belt of teeth, which scrapes chunks of flesh into the oesophagus. Far from being ingested whole, its prey are subjected to prolonged radulation.

This is what they hit you with in Star Trek if those ear bugs don’t do the trick.
