Daredevil photographer takes pictures of his feet dangling off tall buildings

Enjoy an uneasy stomach and weak knees as you check out Detroit-based photographer and urban explorer Dennis Maitland‘s unique series of self-portraits…

From My Modern Met

Maitland doesn’t use a remote to shoot these photos, he takes them all by hand. He mostly climbs old, dilapidated buildings, finds the roof of a place, and then takes photos of his legs sticking, precariously, out.

“I’ll admit, my photos aren’t for everyone,” he says. “Some may think I’m young, dumb and reckless and that’s fine. It’s probably true sometimes.”

And, lastly, a non-self-portrait just for fun…

Except for the last picture, these don’t look all THAT dangerous to me.

Fake or not, it’s more creative than planking!

I’m usually not afraid of heights, but looking at these made me really dizzy! :puke:

I could do this by stuffing a pair of jeans and boots, hanging them over the edge and then leaning over safely and taking pictures of them!

I could never get that close to the ledge, I’d be afraid of someone pushing me off.

  7. I went to school with some people who would have totally done this. I do not call fake at all.

I hear that, Leia. My brother was one of those kind that would take on any DARE. RIP, Eddy br’a. No, he did not die falling from a building, he died in a building that burned up.

And my first thought is: his poor mom. There’s a woman who needs Xanax. I can totally see my son taking up a hobby like this. So many of his ideas of what would be fun, I have to say, “Just please don’t tell me about it until after you’re done doing it, ‘kay?” Shudder.

The last one made me shudder.
