I can do the exact same thing, but our pronunciation varies a bit… It seems that she reverses the actual spelling, while I typically reverse the phonetic sounds (she’d reverse ‘fire’ to say ‘e-riff’ where I’d say ‘rife’).
As kids, my brother and I drove our mom nuts with our backwards conversations– she had NO idea what we were saying and eventually outlawed our sdrawkcab klat. :-)
Rife wouldnt be right though..cause there wouldnt be an E at the end. I like her way better than you describe yours. Sorry, just preference as to how I’d say it too :P
No, she said she uses the phonetics of the word rather than the spelling. The “e” is put at the end of hers to show the long “i” that is present in “fire”. Miss Merryheart’s method is actually closer to saying the word backwards.
That being said, any way you can do this is pretty awesome.
She is sayin the syllables backward. While it IS impressive, it isn’t what I was expecting. I was hoping she could literally speak backward, because that would be one hell of a Halloween trick.
That’s pretty amazing. People are saying it’s a useless talent, but not neccessarily…if her brain is wired in that way that she can hear the words bakwards and forwards like that I bet she can catch on to foreign languages really fast. She would go far with a career in translation.
I agree with Amy on this one. I don’t think it’s useless at all! I’d love to know more about her brain processes the data. Based on how quickly she threw out lamborghini I’m guessing it is more of a phonetic reversal than her actually seeing the spelling in her head. But either way that’s some nifty brain game. I bet she’s awesome at word puzzles, someone should hook her up with Will Shortz.

Agree. Her brain is wired-up in a really neat way, to recognized and rearrange data. That’s a strength that needs to be captured and utilized.
