Man wins $58,500 because of the Giants’ safety in the Super Bowl

Assuming Benjamin Lyons on Twitter is telling the truth, his friend Jona bet $1,000 that the first scoring play in the Super Bowl would be a safety. The odds given to this bet where they were playing in Vegas were 50/1. So his prize was $50,000.

In addition to this bet, Mr. Lyons reports that his friend made another $8,500 with the much safer (though still quite risky) bet that there would be a safety at some point in the game.

I’m surprised it was only 50/1

Boy, I hope that’s not the whole receipt or someone’s going to try making a forgery of it.
