OMG! I checked out that book like crazy when I was a kid; I completely empathize with her. When my daughter was born my mother bought me my own copy – my daughter (now 6) is not impressed.
It’s not a great book (I recognize that as an adult). It’s a picture book with some seriously forced rhymes and the illustrations are woodblock. It’s more “charming” than “fantastic”. It’s a domestic version of the “Little Engine Who Could”.
Must be a “must read.”
