Mouse wins literal game of cat and mouse

From The Telegraph…
A tiny wood mouse stands up to a cat and scratches it on the nose. Looking like a scene from a Tom and Jerry cartoon, the fight saw ‘Jerry’ escaping under the fence and back into the woods where ‘Tom’ had earlier caught him.
The cat had brought the mouse into a garden in Reigate, Surrey, hoping to spend the afternoon chasing him before snacking on the little critter. But he bit off more than he could chew when the mouse turned on him in a battle to survive.
Stephanie Evans said she came outside and saw the mouse in the cat’s mouth. He put the mouse down and instead of running away the mouse just fronted him. The cat was so shocked he just stood there.
She says she thinks they must have tussled for about 10 minutes, before the little mouse disappeared under the fence.

Go mouse! I love cats too!
We had a gopher bite our big (100=#s) Akita mix on the lip!!! He just stood there looking confused!!! AHAHAHAHA However- the next time- he knew just wat to do!!
Because the mouse didn’t act like prey the cat was confused. Had the mouse turned and bolted, the cat would have chased it down again. Great example of a successful evolutionary strategy.
We had a similar happening only the mouse sat up and flailed its fists in front of the cat’s nose! Cat was so shocked I was able to rescue the mouse and it made its escape
OK, now close your eyes….you’re getting sleepy, v e r y sleepy…..Ummm….I forgot something, I’ll be right back! Just keep closing those eyes, Big Guy…
My parents have a laborador retriever mix and once, Dad took her for a walk in the woods and noticed, as he was taking off her leash upon their return to the house, that she had something in her mouth. He pried her jaws open and out came a chipmunk, sopping wet with the dog’s saliva but completely unharmed, which immediately streaked off into the bushes and vanished. She had apparently been carrying it around for quite some time. Labs have very soft mouths you see. Imagine the chipmunk coming home to its family and telling the story about its escape from the literal jaws of death, and no one believes him…
