My favorite comedian. A true stand-up philosopher. I truly hope I get to see him just one more time before he (or I, who knows?) dies.

Also, I would like to note that while Bill Cosby has always been impersonated in the classic babbling incomprehensible style (see The Cosby Show episode where Elvin does the impersonation), I think that unfortunately the younger generation who did not grow up around him is only going to see him as that bumbling, pudding-pop pusher displayed in Family Guy, et al, and not for the truly influential man he has been throughout his career.

Too true… When I see all these new memes and cartoons around the internet portraying him in this way, I always think… I used to watch the Bill Cosby show, and I don’t remember it being non stop babble in the slightest :S

Buy or rent any of his stand up specials, I love “Bill Cosby: Himself” (the quote in the picture is from that special).

His son’s murder changed him, and his work. He seems to have given up the traditional “stand up” comedy in favor of talks on the state of the African-American community in the US.

    • Carr says:

No, he separates the two for certain. Both times I’ve seen him live it was at one of his comedy performances (one a few months after his son died and one around 4 years ago). However, he does spend much more time on social investment than he did prior to that.

I remember when Bill Cosby was on Johnny Carson show and was telling him a story about driving with his wife in some unknown neighborhood and refused to stop and ask for directions. It was hilarious, I wish to hear this episode again but I can’t find it. Somebody help me?
