I’ve been to Auschiwtz-Birkenau, I’ve been to Majdanek (both in Poland), I’ve seen buildings where this people lived, I’ve seen building where they were dying… I was crying few times… And I think that every man who survived this is amazing, not just extraordinary people like this woman. I absolutely don’t doubt that she is wonderful, just remember that there were thousands of people and most of us forget about that, although they all were amazing.
She is remarkable, and she is fortunate to have survived with mind body and soul intact. Millions of remarkable men, women and children; many talented, intelligent and optimistic like this wonderful woman did not. They were gassed, and before that killed by other means for no other reason than being born Jewish in that area of Europe at that time. Businesses such as IBM, the elevator (was it Otis) which knowingly designed efficient elevators to be able to bring 2.5 people from the gas chambers to the ovens. They received an award for that. Many drug companies (Bayer among them) profited from research on these human beings who were scheduled to die. The Nazis kept excellent records so this is neither myth nor conjecture, it is history. Maybe this great lady was able to consider her personal experience of sleeping on a frozen slab and performing for people who would kill her if she stopped pleasing them as a gift, and perhaps her attitude prolongs her life. But it is a dubious gift her lanzmen, Gypsies and others who were murdered would gladly have declined. G-d Bless this lady, and the beauty of the music she was able to share with those in the camps, which was not strong enough to move the will of the unified nazi army to consider who they felt fit to exterminate.
This is possibly the most amazing video I have witnessed in my 40 years on earth. I hope Alice remains with us for years to come; she is a credit to mankind.
The term “exterminate” brought me to tears.
What an amazing woman!
So glad I watched this!
“Everything is a present.” Wow, if I could just remember that longer than 2 hours.
Thank you. Just thank you. :’-)
