It took me a while to get around to this vid for three main reasons:
1) I had no idea what this song was.
2) I was pretty sure that it was going to be some horrendous pop garbage.
3) I didn’t want to not “get it” when I heard this version without hearing the original, but appreciable caution from number 2 held me back.
Now, I can honestly say, this was fantastic. Even the pretty poor lyrics are made awesome by good music (and a great voice) backing them up.
(And most importantly now I know that the ending to “The 5 Stages of Grief When Dealing With an Annoying Pop Song” is not simply a funny line, but a reference to an annoying pop song. Thanks again, Abraham.) :)
