If you can’t buy a zebra, paint a donkey

From The Telegraph…
Palestinian men tape a donkey in order to paint it to look like a zebra ahead of the Eid al-Adha festival, at the Marah Land Zoo in eastern Gaza City. The zoo cannot afford to buy a real zebra.

poor people. I hope any other country will gift them a Zebra after watching this pic.. because no one would like to fool cute, innocent little kids. they always deserve good regardless from where they belong. kids are just kids
Poor kids? Poor donkey! That’s terrible! Who thought that was a good idea?
the donkey volunteered :D
what do you mean by asking “poor kids?” you care more for animals than humans?
Have you seen a Zebra before? Me neither. and I dont feel that my childhood had been deprived… I grew up a happy child.
The idea of a Zoo is evil as itself.
Harassing a poor animal like that is horrible and inhuman.
Waqas; I care about human more than animal, but who ever is doing that to a poor donkey doesn’t care about human or animal at all… he care about money…
If I was a wild animal I think I would enjoy living in a zoo. You wouldn’t have to worry about food, water, or predators…
Super sweet donkey! He’s being so good for them! :) Poor donkey? Because they put a little paint on him? It washes off and he’ll be just fine. The kids at least get to see what a zebra looks like this way. Does make you wonder how much a zebra would be, though…
It says they’re taping the donkey, not painting. The man has tape in his hand. =[

Didn’t read the caption, did you? Read it again, right up there where it says they “tape a donkey in order to PAINT IT”. That right there could’ve saved all of us a lot of time.
Even if they had planned to tape it later, that tape still has to come off. Which will no doubt be uncomfortable for the donkey, to say the least.
“will no doubt be uncomfortable for the donkey, to say the least.”
Are you comparing it to your own skin? Donkeys have dense fur and skin, I doubt they will feel a thing.
At least it’s masking tape, which doesn’t hold very hard. If it were duct tape I would be concerned.
@youface
Donkeys do not have fur, they have hair. How would you like someone putting strips of tape all over your hair and then ripping them off one by one? I don’t think you would like that much.
I was on the phone when I read it so I missed that part. Then again, I probably missed it because my real concern is the fact that they TAPE IT. Who cares if they PAINT IT? That OBVIOUSLY wouldn’t cause pain on an animal. Jesus Christ.. way to stray off the reason why people are concerned about this photo.
Anyway, hopefully the adhesive isn’t strong enough to have much harm on the donkey. Like someone else said, their fur is thick so it might not even make a dent.

I don’t guess you’ve ever been to a zoo if you think that’s what they do. Most animals live longer in a zoo because of the nutrition and medical treatment they receive.
I can tell it is a fake. LOL
what stupid, idiotic people. taping a donkey? they don’t deserve to have a real zebra at their festival. and i hope they can never afford one!
Have you seen the massive loads that people load up donkeys with? and make them walk for miles? compared to that he looks like he’s actually quite enjoying it, i bet he thinks he’s having some sort of fancy spa treatment, but instead of a mud wrap he’s having a tape wrap!
Given the things I’ve seen donkeys get themselves into, that tape isn’t going to hurt it one bit! Masking tape (and even duct tape) is often used to remove fly eggs from donkeys and horses all the time. If it removes any hair it’s very minimal.
