More mosquitoes than you’ve ever seen in your life…at least I hope so
Last month, millions of mosquitoes descended on the village of Mikoltsy in Belarus. According to the site English Russia, their buzzing was louder than passing traffic but for some reason they didn’t sting…

Wow! Far worse than the days in New Orleans, Louisiana, when we could not let the children outside at the daycare center I worked at due to swarms of mosquitoes!
The reason they don’t sting is because they bite.
Really? Why say anything at all?
Because its true…? There will NEVER be a recorded case of a mosquito sting.
Haven’t even thought about these things in years, but the reason they don’t bite or sting is because they are so-called “Blind Mosquitoes”, actually swarms of Males. ( Searching for Females???) It is the Females who bite. When I was a child, these swarms used to be quite common at certain times of the year, around freshwater lakes here in Florida.
There ya go. An intelligent comment with an educational point. Thanks, never knew the males do not bite!
These don’t look like mosquitoes to me. Mosquitoes wings are the same length as their bodies. THey are also not that big in our time.
They look more like a chironomidae, or non-biting midges. They are known to swarm like that in the pictures.
See Wikipedia.

Jennair is exactly right. Those are harmless midges. Great patterns for fly fishing, by the way.
FLAMETHROWER!
