Hockey player knows just enough English to give a perfect post-game interview

Transcription…

We win, first, we win Canada. Second, we win, we win Canada. Third win, 80,000 peoples, red jersey, everybody put red and white jersey. But we win the score, more goals, and it doesn’t matter how, how much, how many shoots Canada shoots at our box, our net, so we win. We’re very excited. It doesn’t matter right now. We, we beat Canada, so.

[Interviewer] Little too close at the end there?

I don’t know. You can give me like hundred questions, but we win. Russia win. Russia better Canada, so . . . see you next time.

[Multiple interviewers talking at one time]

Surprise did I? Not surprised. We been ready 100 percent. We score six goals. We score more goals and win the games, and we win Canada. We beat Canada. We win with a wonderful rink, 80,000 guys and ‘Canada, Canada! Let’s go!’ We have, I think we have, I don’t know, 30, 40 guys, Russian guys from Siberia, and they put their Russian jerseys and ‘Come on, Russia!’ and we win, so that’s it. Thanks, guys.

They gotta stop letting these Russians play without helmets.

  2. Michelle says:

Ladies and gentlemen, the future number one pick in this year’s NHL draft. Congrats, Edmonton. I’m sure he’ll change his mind about Canada once he’s there.

between him and sarah palin word salad i smell a love connection. perfect communication.

  4. Marci says:

Nobody else finds him endearing? haha I can imagine this is how I sound when trying to speak spanish to my in-laws so I give this guy credit, he got his point across!

  5. Blake says:

I think Marci is right on the money. Its funny how some people are judging his intelligence based on how he speaks YOUR language. I would be quite interested to see if any the speak Russian any where near as intelligibly as he just spoke English.
Also Michelle he was not talking trash about Canada, he was just saying that Russia was the better team in the tournament, as you saw he was even having problems saying that knowing that the reporter baited him. That being said if he does wind up in Edmonton he might not change his mind. Honestly what is there to do in Edmonton, its cold and depressing, its barely better then Winnipeg. Its why Chris Pronger’s wife made him leave and screw over the poor Oilers.

  6. tonicclonic says:

ah! I like him too. And I don’t think he was saying “Russia is better than Canada”, I think he meant “The Russian hockey team got the better of the Canadian hockey team.”
